Meet our Painted Lady Butterflies...Garden, Princess, and Wingy!!

SAYING GOOD-BYE TO WINGY, GARDEN AND PRINCESS!

The FAT CATERPILLAR STAGE!!
See our oranges and flowers we fed them? We sprinkled sugar water on them!
Taking out the cocoons and transferring to the HABITAT!
We have enjoyed our project of CATERPILLARS AND BUTTERFLIES! They came to our classroom on March 23rd and we enjoyed the process of watching them turn from caterpillar to cocoon (Chrysalis) to finally the BUTTERFLY! Two of the caterpillars passed away before the cocoon stage, so we only had 3 butterflies.

The PM Class wanted to name them, so we had a class VOTE and drew out the 3 names from a bowl...we had some wonderful ideas! Dianna wanted the name, Dianna...Kennedy wanted the name, Kennedy...Gracie wanted the name, Princess...Ta'ne wanted the name, Garden...Claire wanted the name, Wingy...and Jaylee and Sala had names picked out, but Miss Lisa can't remember them (maybe they can remember and tell you! =) Anyhow, the names that were drawn were...PRINCESS, GARDEN AND WINGY!!

We let them fly FREE on April 14th...since they only have a life cycle of 3 WEEKS, we thought it only fair to let them have one week free out in the world! We were a little sad to watch them go, but we knew it was for the best...one of them flew around for a few minutes and we got to watch it for awhile...so that was fun!
